Shawn is a #1 ranked motivational author, unlimited thinker, and lifetime entrepreneur with a history of inspiring others. A seven-time author, Shawn is also the creator of Extra Mile Day…a day recognizing the power we each have to create positive change when we “go the extra mile.” (On 11/1/19, 533 cities made the declaration and recognized local extra-mile heroes.)
Shawn walks his talk. Besides having inspired tens of thousands through his speaking and writing (including an inspirational speaking tour in the Philippines attended by 20,000 attendees), Shawnโs built a million dollar company, pedaled a bike solo across the U.S. (twice), and created adventures in 45+ countries including having walked over 3,000 miles across seven countries since 2014 (England, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France and 750 miles around Shikoku, Japan.) He will be walking across Scotland in May 2020. Still…he believes his greatest adventures and success are waiting to be lived.
Extra Mile Day & Extra Mile America History: In 2009, in order to symbolize the “go the extra mile” message, Shawn Anderson (a non-bicyclist) pedaled 4,000 miles ocean-to-ocean, interviewed 200+ people along the way whom had been identified as having gone the extra mile, and then gave $10,000 of his own money to the people and organizations whose stories most inspired him. As a part of that cross-country extra-mile ride, Extra Mile Day (11/1)……a day recognizing the capacity we each have to create positive change in our families, our organizations, our communities and ourselves when we “go the extra mile”… was created with 23 inaugural cities. The momentum of this unique day has continued to build each year since, and on November 1, 2019, 533 mayors and cities made the “Extra Mile Day” declaration and recognized people who are “going the extra mile” to make a difference in volunteerism and service in their community.
Book titles include: The Four Fibs, SOAR to the Top!, Amicus 101: A Story About the Pursuit of Purpose and Overcoming Lifeโs Chaos, Extra Mile America: Stories of Inspiration, Possibility and Purpose, Lessons From A. Friend, A Better Life: An Inspiring Story About Starting Over
John Midavaine studied medicine. Being focussed on health improvement, he came in contact with patients with huge numbers of flying hours, who were looking for answers to treat their neurological health problems.
John: โBesides my specialism in Sports Medicine, I have been engaged in Orthomolecular Medicine for a long time. In recent years I have frequently met people who fly frequently, either by profession or for business, often showing neurological problems. Iโve specialised in orthomolecular treatments in general, but in particular in top sport and aviation, which in a way is top sport as well. I achieved good results there, amongst others for patients who fly frequently. Nevertheless, I want to find out more about causes and results, which will eventually allow us to move our focus towards prevention. At the time, unfortunately there is still insufficient knowledge about the neurological problems related to air travel.”
โThis is the reason why I joined Stichting Fly Aware. Our ultimate goal is to show up in the future with more facts and evidence.โ
Besides his activities for Stichting Fly Aware, John is a.o. the Head of a clinic for Lifestyle Medicine: Lifemedic.nl
Kathrin is a 39 year old mother of two beautiful sons, who started her career in aviation 18 years ago as check in agent while still studying economics at university. In 2005 she felt like she needed a break from studying and started flying. She never went back, the virus infected her. She loved it!
3 years later she became Purser (head of the cabin).
Her career had a rough ending in 2016, after experiencing 5 Fume Events within 22 months ( 2014 โ 2016). In 2018 she became permanently unfit to fly due to the chronic health effects and impairments that resulted from the fume events.
Kathrin is the founder as well as board member of the nonprofit organization Patient initiative Contaminated Cabin Air, P-CoC in short. She also runs her blog “Kabinenlobbyโ. She also advocates politically for the improvement of the legal status of affected crew after fume events.

After experiencing the misfortune of becoming unfit to fly
and being more or less forced into medical retirement, Bearnairdine became
involved in research to improve the quality of aircraft cabin air and has
become a busy advocate and voice for the campaign. For years now she has been
helping aerotoxic fume victims to understand their ill-health.
Over the years after a lot of trial and error, her own
health improved somewhat. Before beginning her flying career she qualified as a
laboratory assistant and decided to use that education and combine it with naturopathy.
She qualified as a naturopath in Biofeedback, Neuro-Electro-Anatomy,
Herbalism.
In 2013 Bearnairdine founded the ‘Aerotoxic Team’, a very
informative website containing evidence, documentaries, testimonies, science
and news. She also has a blog called โItโs in the air we breatheโ and writes
articles for news outlets. Bearnairdine networks internationally with experts,
scientists and other ‘clean cabin air’ advocates and appeared in the
investigative documentary โUnfiltered Breathed Inโ.
In 2016 Bearnairdine published two books in two
languages in which she talks about her Aerotoxic journey. It is not only part
of her story with many colorful high-lights from her flying years, it also
helps understand what actually causes Aerotoxic Syndrome. Her third book: ‘Tomb
in the Sky’ is being launched any day now.
She retreated from the modern world which has become
increasingly saturated with chemical fumes everywhere, and is now living in a
beautiful, very secluded โclean-airโ area in the Swiss Alps with her little dog
‘Dolly’. From there she continues to support the Aerotoxic Syndrome campaign
via computer and telephone.
