Avoiuli (from Raga avoi ‘talk about’ and uli ‘draw’ or ‘paint’) is a writing system used by the Turaga indigenous movement in the Solomon Islands, specifically on the island of Pentecost in Vanuatu.
It is an indigenous script that was developed by the people of Pentecost Island. It is not based on any existing writing system and is considered one of the world’s youngest scripts, with its creation dating back to the early 20th century.
Writing direction: left to right or right to left in horizontal lines, or boustropehedon (alternating from left-to-right and right-to-left).
