Forgiveness

Drops of water sliding down my hand

Lines of age running down my palm

Mingling thoughts of joy and pain

Where did they go to,

all my years, those since I was born?

Tears welling up into my eyes

The pain I caused, the hurt I initiated

Was it retaliation, ego or just my pride?

Did I seek forgiveness, or did it not matter?

For I was the king of my very own parlour!

Here we are then, at the roadโ€™s end

Shouting out loud, but nobody hears

For I am too weak to even speak!

One last sigh then, one last tryโ€ฆ

If itโ€™s all the strength I have in me

Hear me whisper out like a lashing sea

โ€œPlease, please forgive meโ€ฆโ€

Our Dance

Dance with me in the moonlight

Take my hand

Curve my spine with your hand a-slight!

Swirl on the beats

Gently but strong following the feet

Maintain the lines

Forming a whole is what you seek!

Lengthen the step

More complex it will get

Free the spirit

Unleash your regret!

Take this dance further up

See those eyes around you stare

Awe and spellbound, will they dare?

One step to the next

Clear the way, this is a concept

To lead so they follow

Into the depths so hollow!

Sleepy Head

Lying down in bed
across my open window.

The light of the moon beside
hazy and dark outside.

Wavy figures moving to and fro
Sinewy, long, always on the go!

Rustle of the leaves I hear
sway them the branches near
from the gentle wind that gushes.
An occasional bark or meow
distantly far, but my ear it reaches.

There it is again
hiding in the shadows
dancing in between light and harrow.

A figment of my imaginationโ€ฆ
care not, for slumber I follow
my head gently hits the pillow!

Sheltered Aura

Fight with your heart and mind

Worth it… donโ€™t think itโ€™s kind

Ask me then my opinion

As crazy as it seem to share to millions!

Bring out your love and deeds

Surface of reflection be your heart

Start another race, right on the mark!

Each being create this sheltered aura

Lighten up those positive fires!

Eat, pray, weepโ€ฆ?

Shelter from heat
Is that all we seek?

Wishing on a passing cloud
Is that all that holds benefitting clout?

Sing in my praise, before they sleep
Eat, pray, weepโ€ฆis that the order of the sheep?

Come on by with a wistful must
Shatter those chains of an aged past
Unwilling thoughโ€ฆyou still find trust!

For look ahead, far deep into the light
A challenging sword, in all its might
Clearing boundariesโ€ฆall around, left and then right
Herein lies my evergreen, vengeful delight!

Enigma – First Review

Read Between The Lines (Oct 12 2019)

****A journey through love, lust and passion!

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I got this. I do enjoy poetry I rather enjoy all different genres of writing. I am definitely a lover of words with that out of the way I will leave you with my thoughts on Enigma: Erotic Soul Poetry.

This book was sometimes more interesting than exciting, but that did nothing to lessen my enjoyment of the collection. These poems are about sex — every strange, beautiful, passionate and awkward aspect of sex. That doesn’t necessarily make them ‘sexy’ though. Some where more passionate than sexy. These poems brought you into the mind of the lovers depicted in each poem and allowed you to envision the love and passion between them.

I loved just how many different niches of the human sexual experience are represented here. Each poem is to be enjoyed and judged individually. Every piece tells it’s own story while keeping within the theme and style of the book overall. It’s too hard to choose one poem which stands out above the rest, I do have a few that I enjoyed while there was a couple I really enjoyed. One of the ones I really enjoyed was Mirage. While some of these poems stood out more than others they where all unique and enjoyable. If you enjoy poetry and the expression written within itโ€™s words you will enjoy this title.

Moss

Apologies I offer thee in advance
Shedding any hindrance, maintaining my superfluous balance!

For now I shall commence my irrevocable dance
Cursed being, you lost your golden chance!

Shame not in sight, this is my win
Dirt is meant for you, a horrible cringe!

Sorrowful and doomed your existence
No more need for even a simple sentence!

Go about your way, our paths never again to cross
The ultimate fulfilment is to leave behind you, an undeserving rotting moss!

Review of my book – “Must Love Poetry”

โ€œMust Love Poetry,โ€ by Chriselda Barretto is an eclectic collection of topics expressed in well written poetry. Topics range from Nature, Spirituality, the Universeโ€ฆyou name it and it is within these pages in some shape, or form. When I first saw that this poetry collection was 290 pages, I hesitated a little as this collection had only one author and other poetry books I have read of this size were always multi-author anthologies. I decided to read it like I read the anthologiesโ€ฆin different sittings without paying attention to the table of contents. I found that although I could identify the authorโ€™s voice in all the poems, each poem felt totally different than the next one. Each one was well written โ€“ some free style, some rhyme more than others, all spoke of different topics, and each expressed a distinct feel. Some of my favorites, to name a few, (although I loved the entire repertoire) are: โ€˜Soar,โ€™ โ€˜From Mother to Son,โ€™ โ€˜The Statue and The Tower,โ€™ โ€˜Mind Me,โ€™ and the one that really stayed with me, โ€˜Dark Pearl.โ€™

Barretto has mastered multiple forms of poetry, but her talent of expression is what impressed me the most. To be able to share feelings and provoke thoughts about such a range of topics in one collection is remarkable. I liked the fact that she presented her work in no apparent sequence. This always kept me curious, wondering what the next one would be about, and how it would affect my mind and heart. Would it linger in my thoughts? Would it touch a moment within my life? Would it be about something I havenโ€™t even thought about? Below is a short example to show how the authorโ€™s work is not only mind and heart stimulatingโ€ฆbut also visually.

โ€˜Dishonest

Living in an age

of dishonesty

Surviving a rage

of pre-occupational hazardry

Collect your thoughts

and reinforce your mental imagery

For this world is the biggest asset

of evolution for humanity!โ€™

I loved โ€œMust Love Poetryโ€ by Chriselda Barretto and consider it a five-star book of poetry for this era. Definitely a must-read for all poetry lovers!
