Linear A was a script utilized by the Minoans in Crete from 1800 BC to 1450 BC for their palace and religious inscriptions. Following Linear A, the Mycenaeans adopted Linear B to transcribe an early version of Greek. The archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans unearthed Linear A in 1900.
