The Vithkuqi alphabet, also known as Büthakukye or Beitha Kukju as named by German Albanologist Johann Georg von Hahn, was created between 1825 and 1845 by Albanian scholar Naum Veqilharxhi for writing the Albanian language.
One of the distinctive features of the Vithkuqi alphabet is its vertical orientation, in which the letters are written from top to bottom. This orientation was intended to make writing easier and more efficient. The alphabet is also known to be written from left to right.
