Alchemical symbols are a set of pictorial representations used in the practice of alchemy, a philosophical and proto-scientific tradition that aimed to transform base metals into noble metals (such as gold) and discover the elixir of life.

These symbols were used to encode and communicate various concepts, substances, and processes involved in alchemy. While some symbols have their origins in ancient Greek, Egyptian, and Roman civilizations, the systematic use of alchemical symbols became more prevalent during the medieval and early modern periods.
