What is ‘Golden Milk’?
‘Golden milk’ or ‘Turmeric milk’ is a beneficial drink that not only strengthens your immune system, it also improves the health of your heart and staves off illness. It helps you combat many other ailments, some of which I will be mentioning further on. I will also share my recipe with you; simple and easy to make!
Firstly before anything else, let’s speak about the main ingredient which is turmeric. With its beautiful, rich yellow colour, turmeric has been used in India for thousands of years as a spice and medicinal herb.
Let’s see the top 10 proven health benefits of turmeric, from a recent article published for Healthline by Kris Gunnars:

5- Curcumin Should Lower Your Risk of Heart Disease
6- Turmeric Can Help Prevent (And Perhaps Even Treat) Cancer

With all these proven health benefits, it only makes sense to incorporate it into our daily diet. I do that by drinking a glass of ‘turmeric/golden’ milk, twice a day. The first thing in the morning as I get up, on an empty stomach and lastly at night before I sleep. You can also make it in advance and store it in your refrigerator for up to five days. Simply reheat it before drinking. Did I already mention how ‘yumm‘ it tastes!
The main ingredients in golden milk are – Turmeric, ginger and cinnamon — all having properties that may benefit heart function and protect against heart disease. Cinnamon and ginger, may lower blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity.
Ginger and turmeric, may help relieve indigestion. Turmeric may also help relieve symptoms in people with ulcerative colitis. They also have antibacterial and antiviral properties which may protect your body from infections. Their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties reduce inflammation and joint pain and strengthens your immune system.
“Studies indicate that cinnamon, ginger and turmeric may offer some protection against cancer.”
So, to summarize… it eases joint pain, improves diabetes, stimulates brain function, ends fatigue, and so much more…
One last thing…
As Dr. Connealy states in a recent article for – WomansWorld.Com – Drop a Pound a Day on This Diet Loaded With a Powerful Anti-Inflammatory Spice – “Studies now show that curcumin helps suppress the development of new fatty tissue”
Also stated in the same article, according to a Tufts University team, the spice actually blocks blood vessels feeding our fat, causing a significant number of fat cells to “starve” and self-destruct! For weight loss and health benefits, experts recommend about 2 tsp. of turmeric daily. To maximize results, enjoy healthy meals that emphasize protein, veggies and good fat.
